The Great Egret is an amazing bird found along some of the sea shores of Koh Chang. Getting up 1 meter in height they feed mainly on fish, bugs and small mammals and are to be found all along the equator as they are very migratory birds with huge ranges.
Once hunted for their feather for hats they were close to extinction but have come back from there and have repopulated many areas they once inhabited. look for them along the shores of any large body of water or along larger rivers.
Originally from Canada and now over five years in Thailand, he is still discovering Koh Chang and Thailand. Most likely a process that will never stop! He is the main contributor and editor for The Koh Chang Sun and is involved with various other projects on the island and back in Canada. His goal is to try to make Koh Chang a better place to live, to visit and improve the community here for all. Thailand and Koh Chang never cease to amaze him...
