When one usually thinks of monks in Thailand the image is one of a person mediating and perhaps teaching or helping others, but the image is not generally one of heavy labor. But as usual Thailand teaches us again that not all is as it seems at first view.
There has been an ongoing problem behind the Temple in Klong Son with water drainage and the monks at the Temple decided to take matters into their own hands, be great neighbors and solve the problem themselves.
We thought you might like the pictures that show there is sometimes some real heavy labor being a monk and it is not all just sitting and thinking! From what we could see these monks were sweating and working very, very hard all day and night. A few even had something you do not see on a lot of Thai people – a real red sunburn!
…And the water drainage problem is way better thanks due to the monks at the Temple. So next time you think of Monks in Thailand be sure to add some real heavy labor to your thoughts!
