Many people are wondering what the next year holds for Koh Chang and the world in general, so we hired the world renowned astrologer/psychic/drunk Mr. Sangsum who was able to foretell a few events that may (or may not *insert legal disclaimed here*) to see what the future hold for Koh Chang!
2012 is going to be a great year!
Top Predictions 2012:
A strange virus will sweep the bar-girl population of Koh Chang. They will no longer be able to say “Hello! Welcome!” but instead will only be able to yell commercial phrases. “I love Volkswagen! American Express – Don’t Leave Home Without it! Fly With Me – Delta! I am The Pepsi Generation! Where’s the Beef! Coke Is It” is all that will be heard up and down the street. Strangely the corporations will reward them with many free gifts. It catches on later to the whole country. Tourism drops but corporate profits are up.

.
The road between Bang Bao and Salakphet will actually be completed (almost). The construction will end 3m from total completion but will be blocked by taxis 24 hours a day – with rifles.
This will become a tourist attraction and dining spot called “Taxis Last Stand” and will make it into Lonely Planet and Tripadvisor as a top attraction.
.
.
A man will come to Koh Chang, Thailand and open a business not based on restaurant services, tourism, scooters, lodging, diving, alcohol, bars, computers, teaching or coffee. He will be knighted eventually by the local Government. He will publish books, videos and start an online training course for ex-pats. 60,000 people will copy him.
.
.
In Lonely Beach there will be a massive new fad of classical music that will sweep the area. Formal dresses and tuxedos will become a huge hit. Balls will be held on the beach every night in August. Rastafarian hairstyles will give way to overcoats and top hats. Short haired tuxedo wearing travelers will travel from all over the world to hang out and talk about the “Real Thailand” while listening to Mozart and drinking “Bach Buckets”
.
.
A freak accident involving a truck carrying liquid tar and another truck with cement will occur in White Sands. The next day the road will be fine to drive on. Attendance for the local Temple rises. It becomes a semi-annual festival called “Amazing Roads in Thailand” it becomes a hit with Automobile Fanatics the world over
.
.
In order to compete with international pressure Tattoo shops in Koh Chang will offer extreme make-overs. This will drive up tourism by 40%. 20% for the people who want extreme make-overs and 20% of people taking pictures of the “freaks”. The island will be divided 50-50 or 20-20 on whether this is a good idea or not.

Have A Great 2012!
