There are a multitude of reasons to visit Koh Chang in the high season and not surprisingly there a lot of reasons to visit in the Green Season. Since it is the height of the Green Season here are some essential facts for you:
You have a lot of the island for yourself. If you don’t really like crowds and want some real relaxing times then the Green Season is for you. The beaches are not crowded, the streets not so busy, the mornings are just clearer and quieter. The island takes on a slower pace and this is the place to just relax and chill out now.
Deals to be had galore. With the high season over the lodges and resorts are much more willing to bargain on a price. Restaurants have more specials and everyone is willing to make a break to get your business. If you like bargain travelling, then now is the time to either save money, or get more for the same price.
Nature is really blooming. If you like nature then this really is the best time. The rain brings out millions more flowers, more greenery, more animals, more birds and more butterflies. There is nothing like a jungle with a bit of rain in the morning. You can see and do way more…
The Waterfalls of Koh Chang are best now. It really is simple, add a few more thousand litres of water running through them and they are flowing. Just amazing to see now as the water is pumping!
No, the weather does not suck as bad as you think… Yes, there is rain, but generally it does not last very long and after the sun is bright and shining. Some even think a bit of clouds keeps the place cool and wonderful. And to be honest you have never seen rain like this anywhere else. When it really comes down it is something you will remember for a very long time… yes, you will have a story to talk about back home. It is an adventure!
Koh Chang is much more local. Most of the foreigners have fled the island, and there are many more Thai and long term ex-pats on the island now. If you want to see a more original and ethnic way of life in Thailand – this is the time to come to Koh Chang. The locals also have a lot more time to shoot the breeze with you, tell you stories and you will run into way more people who actually live on the island.
The Sea is Amazing. Anyone can watch a nice sleepy wave come in and break on the shore. If you want to see some real power in nature then head down and take a look at the sea when there is a storm. It might sound a little crazy, but just try it out… you will be amazed at how beautiful and powerful it really is.
Time to Relax. It is hard to describe this one, but time here flows differently. The mornings take longer, the attitude is much more laid back and the days and nights are just longer. You can take a deep breath and just relax. There is no rush here at this time of year.
