No longer do you have to wade through a bunch of short clips looking for the one video that is actually decent… we have done it all for you! Taken from YouTube and other sites these should cover the island and give you a real idea of what Koh Chang is like. From elephant trekking, to the beach life, some nightlife and even some street food and good times! Fashion TV has finally discovered Koh Chang! Well at least the Miss FTV contestants, who are competing for a top model contract and also become a FTV host.. which as far as modelling goes must be up there like an Academy Award. It must be awesome for them as not only do they get to model but they can actually talk… So this week they headed to the Aiyapura Resort, got to hang out, act glamorous, do some modelling, meet some modelling people and overall, have a glamorous, modelling time…  doing important modelling assignments and such. Okay, Okay,  I admit it really hard to fill in a lot of information about this, their models, they pose and photographers take their pictures, its’ not like they visited the local hospital and gave blood and then dropped by the local school and gave a speech about “shooting for the stars” or anything… but we do get to put a bikini picture on the front page and see what we can spot as to where they posed on the island… good for us. Aiyapura Resort though was a good choice, nice place and very conductive to good photos for the island… Well, maybe a small step, but maybe Koh Chang is getting a bit more notice across the world. Cool. Very cool.

If you are wondering what the beaches are like on Koh Chang and where to stay or where to relax, maybe this quick video will help you to decide what would be best for you. White Sands and Lonely Beach are certainly the most famous but there are some excellent ones in Klong Prao and just south of Bang Bao there is another one that might interest people who want some thing a bit quieter. Each beach on Koh Chang offers a different vibe and a different set of amenities, resorts, hotels and services. Hopefully this video helps you to decide which would be best for you to stay at or which one you might want to spend a few hours!

Koh Chang News: The Charity Run in White Sands went over quite well, albeit with a couple of minor snags… but it was fun. The event kicked off at Koh Bar, and we have to say they really went out of their way to put on a good show including some great live music, coyote dancers (yes, they’re in the video) and some great food. The party went over to Zap Bar, where they had some karaoke and then wound down at the Rock Bar on Walking Street, a nice little venue worth dropping into… Along the way there were a lot of donations, tons of good music, a lot of laughs and of course it was all to help out the local school for supplies and sundries – so everyone pitched in and had a good time. For a change the heavy drinkers were appreciated! The glitches that happened were although One Club was supposed to have a soft-opening their main amplifier blew and could not be replaced, not sure what happened to Paddy’s Palms and with the re-scheduling Dave Dobson, decided to skip Jungle Queen. We have to say he handled the changes in stride and did not have to interrupt the fun at all (grace under pressure and all). Like anything, the first time can always be problematic but Dave is already planning the next event, and again it is to help the kids… contact us if you would like to be involved, maybe you can pitch in and look good all at the same time! Of course you are asking about the money raised, what goes where and we will have that update for you in a few days. Dave went out his way along with the bars involved and I think a quick thank-you is in order as they are all trying to make the island a better community… We have to say from our viewpoint here at the Koh Chang Sun we are grateful that such good people live on the island. Now if just a few more people would follow the example… what a place we could have eh? Got a charity event? Drop us a line and we help you promote it!

Koh Chang is famous for its beaches and jungle but there is another wonderful area that we have been trying to get people to go to for a while down by the Klong Prao river that is simply amazing. We had the chance to be invited to the opening of Moleys Resort and it was great! Off the beaten track, but well worth getting to. Rebuilt from an original fisherman’s home on stilts over the river it has one of the best views of the sunsets on the whole island. Cool breezes and just a few minutes to the quietest beach on Koh Chang the whole resort has been built into a wonderful “boutique” resort that will appeal to a lot of people. Although just rebuilt it retains a lot of its charms and former character with a wide deck area, access to the river and all done with a natural feel. The bathrooms have been carefully done with a lot of attention to detail, there are great touches throughout… great beds, quiet location and all kinds of great touches- but that was not why we here tonight. We were here for the views, our friends and we here with Moley for his opening night. Moley has been around the island for a while and has decided to open the resort and lounge and restaurant and as always he did with the usual laid back ease that is definitely his style. The open and breezy deck seriously has the best views of the Klong Prao river you can find and the fact that this side of the river has a real road makes it quite attractive to getting around the island. A quick boat ride takes you to the other side and easy access to great restaurants and just a few minutes to the main road we think will make the place very popular… The opening night was a lot of fun and if you are in the mood to kick back and relax, Moleys resort might just be the place for you! Moley wants you to know though… the opening night is not the usual night, he likes it a lot quieter…

Nothing better than some good food from the Netherlands, with a bit of Thai, great music and good friends. In a nutshell that was Mojitos 3rd anniversary party.  Jasper, as always was quick with a few new tunes, cold drinks, a few shaken and stirred cocktails and a great time.  We have always been impressed with Mojitos atmosphere and attention to details in small things, like not too much ice in the drinks, a clean pool table, comfortable seating and an overall cool and funky style. It was nice to head out and be able to help Mojitos celebrate their third year. Good to see some old friend there also. Is it a good time? Always.

We get a lot of questions here at the Koh Chang Sun about diving and we have to admit none of us are experts at all. There are a lot on the island who are and we thought a good idea would be to play this video for you and see for yourself. Looks like a good time here on the island, enjoy! As they say – a picture is worth a thousand words! So maybe seek out the local expert and see for yourself. Looks like it be worth it for us to head down to a shop or two and learn how to enjoy the underwater life that so many are living here!
